Pro Wakeboard Tour

Orlando, FL - The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by Chevrolet and GM Vortec engines becomes part of Florida's spring event madness when the 2004 Pro Wakeboard Tour seasonPRO Wakeboard Tour opens April 30-May 2 at the Orlando Watersports Complex.

Florida hosts just about every kind of event in the spring including pro golf, auto racing, college basketball tournament games, spring training games and the opening of the competitive watersports season. The first MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop is one of the largest of its kind in the world with close to 200 pro and amateur wakeboarding competitors descending on the city.

The world's top wakeboarding athletes, most of whom reside in and around Orlando, will be on hand to kick off the new season. Look for 2004 Pro Wakeboard Tour Season Champion and MasterCraft Pro Rider Parks Bonifay to be on top of his game, though he will be challenged by the rest of the pro men including Shawn Watson who has won the season opening event in each of the past two years.

2004 World Cup Champion Darin Shapiro will be hungry for a win in his hometown after being shutout in 2003. Danny Harf, another Orlando resident and 2003 X Games and National Champion will also be gunning for the top spot.

In the pro women's competition all eyes will be on Dallas Friday the 2003 Indmar points champion who won almost every major women's event in 2003. She will be challenged by 2003 Gravity Games Champion Emily Copeland and MasterCraft Pro Rider Maeghan Major who finished second in the season-opening event in Orlando last year.

The SeaDoo watercraft Pro Wakeskate series is also on tap for Orlando. This year the race should be a great one between Orlando residents Brian Grubb and Thomas Horrell.

After opening in Orlando the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour will continue throughout North America with four additional stops including Ft. Worth, Texas May 22-23; Reno, Nevada, June 5-6; Kelowna, British Columbia Canada, July 10-11 and the final event in Irvine, California July 17-18.
